METABOLIC SURGERY

There is a surgical solution for diabetes mellitus type 2 and it is called metabolic surgery. This operation is suitable for patients whose pancreatic capacity is adequte, and this decision is made after blood tests that show pancreatic enzyme levels. In this surgical process stomach is narrowed and then connected to the most distant part of small intestines. Thereby, 1/3 of the food follows the normal digestive route and 2/3 of the food follows the new way and ends up in distant small intestines. After 3 days of hospitalization we discharge our patients. The aim of this process is to lower or end the need for oral anti-diabetic medications or insülin.
