Sleeve Gastrectomy (Gastric Sleeve Surgery)

We operate on patients aged 18-65 who have advanced obesity or a body mass index of 35 and additional diseases (such as diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea and joint disease).

The most frequently preferred obesity-obesity surgery worldwide is the sleeve gastrectomy. In this surgery, the stomach is cut using special staples and its volume is narrowed. We remove approximately 70-80% of the stomach. Especially since the hormonal production areas in the stomach that regulate appetite are removed, we feel full earlier and our hunger sensation decreases. Although the stomach capacity is narrowed in this procedure, there is no change in stomach functions.

We perform our surgeries as closed (laparoscopic). It is a faster procedure compared to other surgical methods and we perform our surgery in approximately one and a half hours. With closed surgeries, we have less surgical scars and pain and can be discharged from the hospital earlier.

The rate of bleeding or leakage in the suture lines after the surgery is approximately 1%, and the risk of death is 0.05%. It is generally accepted as a very effective and reliable method.

There is no serious mineral or vitamin deficiency in the post-operative period. Regular follow-up and blood tests are recommended in the post-operative period.

In the first year, it is expected that 65-80% of our excess weight will be lost after surgery. We need to be careful about what we eat after a gastric sleeve or sleeve gastrectomy. Our stomach may expand after uncontrolled eating and we may start to gain weight again. We perform the most frequent obesity revision surgery on patients who have undergone gastric sleeve surgery.
