GASTRIC BOTOX
Patients who are mildly or moderately overweight are candidates for gastric botox. This is a non-surgical procedure that is performed at endoscopy unit under sedation anesthesia and does not have any known side effect. This procedure that takes 20-25 minutes to complete and does not require hospitalization. During the procedure, botox is injected to 30 different locations of the stomach which results in reduction of gastric movements. As the gastric motility reduces, there will be an early feeling of saiety and appetite will subside. These effects will begin in 48-56 hours after the procedure and will last 6 months. Within this 6 month period, patients are expected to lose 15-20 kilos, due to their body-mass index.
